Social Media for Student/Athletes:

Social media can play a crucial part in getting you noticed by collegiate and professional recruiters.  If done correctly, social media is an invaluable way to communicate your dedication to your craft as well as show what kind of person you are off the field.  More and more, companies and schools are vetting candidates by scouring a potential recruit’s/employee’s pages to get an idea of what type of person they are considering. The wrong post can cost you a place to play, a job, or more importantly, your reputation.

Your social media should...

1.     Be positive.

2.     Be supportive (of others.)

3.     Promote yourself in a truthful and modest way.

4.     Showcase your various interests.

5.     Demonstrate critical thinking

Your social media should not...

1.     Contain inappropriate language.

2.     Be used to disparage teammates, coaches, classmates, teachers, etc.

3.     Contain images or references to drugs and/or alcohol.

4.     Contain images depicting nudity or partial nudity.

5.     Be used to disparage groups with different beliefs, allegiances, or viewpoints.
